Hello! I just had to post about George and Laura today.
We went walking tonight and George and Laura were sporting their new harnesses, which are awesome. George and Laura are about the same color and that is about where their similarities end. George loved loved the walk. As he walked, his tail wagged, his ears perked and his investigation skills were on! Now Laura, she would be happy if we left her on the couch. Her tail was tucked under, her ears were down and she was not having any fun.
Here is a picture of George from the other day.
Welcome! This is our blog to share about the wonderful art and their creators in our DoxieCrafts.com shop. We also share about dachshund events we have attended as well as our three loved doxies, Laura, George and Jake.

Debbie's Designs: Art Teacher with Major Talent
The Artist: Debbie
Debbie's Designs are from the creative mind of Debbie, who is also a dachshund owner for most of her life. Debbie has been an art teacher now for 22 years, with most of the years at the middle schools. She has an art education degree with a Bachelor of Fine Arts.
Debbie's favorite medium is watercolor but she loves to quilt and make anything that sparks her interest.
Debbie created and handmade this pillow. She offers custom pillows to match your home decor. http://www.doxiecrafts.com/pillow.html
This is a quilt Debbie created using a picture of a dachshund. Each color is hand cut and sewn together. This project took a couple of months. Quilt is 40" x 40".
Debbie’s Dachshunds
Sophie
March 1994, Heaven December 2007
Sophie lived a long and good life. She was very huggable and loved by everyone who met her. Her only fault was that she was a bit selfish with her chew toys and bones. Her favorite things in life were to chase squirrels, to go after her automated ball and to relax. Her loss was difficult for both Debbie and Jenny.
Jenny
May 1994 to present
Jenny acts and looks like a country dog. She received her name from Jenny in Forest Gump and of course, we say Jenny just as Forest does! She was best friends with Sophie and loved her more than any human or thing. In fact, Jenny belonged to Debbie’s roommate and loved Sophie so much that she stayed with Sophie when her mommy moved. Jenny's spirit is strong and survived a back surgery when her legs collapsed. Jenny still has some issues with bladder control but lives a happy and content life with her new best friend Star.

Star
Adopted February 2, 2008 to present
Star is a beautiful rescue dog from Almost Home Dachshund Rescue. She was living among over 40 dogs in a small house with a woman who just could not say “no” to picking up animals. Star is very skittish around humans and has attached herself to Debbie alone. She does love living with Jenny and she spends her days at Grandma’s with the other dachshunds, enjoying their open fenced in yard and their comfy couches.

Chloe, A Great Friend
Chloe went to Heaven June 9, 2009
Written by Teresa Joy
(very amateur writer, daughter, dachshund lover)
Chloe was my mom's long hair dapple dachshund. She lived a good life of 11 years and was loved by all that met her. She died due to complications from a gall bladder rupture.
I remember going with my older sister Pennie to buy a puppy at a local breeder's house. There was a bunch of dapple puppies of all colors of hair and eyes. We could have chosen any of the puppies but Chloe chose us. She pushed her way through the group, wiggled and jumped all over us until we just had to take her home. Once at my mom's house, Chloe just said hello to everyone and made herself at home. Chloe was never homesick for her brothers and sisters and immediately became part of her new family.
One thing I remember about Chloe was her gentle nature. The grand kids would wiggle all over her and she would seem not to care. She was always the first to greet you when you visited mom. She was always happy and friendly. This is how Chloe will be remembered.
Chloe left many friends behind, both human and dachshund. As difficult is her loss for my mom, dad and sisters, it has been more difficult for her dachshund companions, Jodie and Star.
Please hug your little family member and remember that their time here with us is short but a blessing. Thank you.
