We are very pleased to introduce a new artist to our site, Suzanne E. Noll of Animal Instincts. Suzanne's work is amazing, original and very fun!

Bouncing George & His Santa Toy

George loves to play with balls and anything that squeaks. His Santa toy is both - ball on one end and a squeak on the other end! George bounces like a bunny at times. It reminds me when we were outside with the neighbors and George was running around. The neighbor thought he was a rabbit!

Quick Post on George & Laura

Hello! I just had to post about George and Laura today.

We went walking tonight and George and Laura were sporting their new harnesses, which are awesome. George and Laura are about the same color and that is about where their similarities end. George loved loved the walk. As he walked, his tail wagged, his ears perked and his investigation skills were on! Now Laura, she would be happy if we left her on the couch. Her tail was tucked under, her ears were down and she was not having any fun.

Here is a picture of George from the other day.

Debbie's Designs: Art Teacher with Major Talent

The Artist: Debbie
Debbie's Designs are from the creative mind of Debbie, who is also a dachshund owner for most of her life. Debbie has been an art teacher now for 22 years, with most of the years at the middle schools. She has an art education degree with a Bachelor of Fine Arts.

Debbie's favorite medium is watercolor but she loves to quilt and make anything that sparks her interest.

Debbie created and handmade this pillow. She offers custom pillows to match your home decor. http://www.doxiecrafts.com/pillow.html

This is a quilt Debbie created using a picture of a dachshund. Each color is hand cut and sewn together. This project took a couple of months. Quilt is 40" x 40".

Debbie’s Dachshunds

Sophie
March 1994, Heaven December 2007
Sophie lived a long and good life. She was very huggable and loved by everyone who met her. Her only fault was that she was a bit selfish with her chew toys and bones. Her favorite things in life were to chase squirrels, to go after her automated ball and to relax. Her loss was difficult for both Debbie and Jenny.

Jenny
May 1994 to present
Jenny acts and looks like a country dog. She received her name from Jenny in Forest Gump and of course, we say Jenny just as Forest does! She was best friends with Sophie and loved her more than any human or thing. In fact, Jenny belonged to Debbie’s roommate and loved Sophie so much that she stayed with Sophie when her mommy moved. Jenny's spirit is strong and survived a back surgery when her legs collapsed. Jenny still has some issues with bladder control but lives a happy and content life with her new best friend Star.

Jenny & Sophie

Star
Adopted February 2, 2008 to present
Star is a beautiful rescue dog from Almost Home Dachshund Rescue. She was living among over 40 dogs in a small house with a woman who just could not say “no” to picking up animals. Star is very skittish around humans and has attached herself to Debbie alone. She does love living with Jenny and she spends her days at Grandma’s with the other dachshunds, enjoying their open fenced in yard and their comfy couches.

Chloe, A Great Friend

Chloe went to Heaven June 9, 2009
Written by Teresa Joy
(very amateur writer, daughter, dachshund lover)

Chloe was my mom's long hair dapple dachshund. She lived a good life of 11 years and was loved by all that met her. She died due to complications from a gall bladder rupture.

I remember going with my older sister Pennie to buy a puppy at a local breeder's house. There was a bunch of dapple puppies of all colors of hair and eyes. We could have chosen any of the puppies but Chloe chose us. She pushed her way through the group, wiggled and jumped all over us until we just had to take her home. Once at my mom's house, Chloe just said hello to everyone and made herself at home. Chloe was never homesick for her brothers and sisters and immediately became part of her new family.

One thing I remember about Chloe was her gentle nature. The grand kids would wiggle all over her and she would seem not to care. She was always the first to greet you when you visited mom. She was always happy and friendly. This is how Chloe will be remembered.

Chloe left many friends behind, both human and dachshund. As difficult is her loss for my mom, dad and sisters, it has been more difficult for her dachshund companions, Jodie and Star.

Please hug your little family member and remember that their time here with us is short but a blessing. Thank you.

NC Wiener Roast 2009

Dachshund Fundraiser at the Castle
May 16, 2009

http://www.almosthomerescue.org/ncpicnic/ncpicnic2009.htm

This was our first year at the NC Wiener Roast hosted by the Almost Home Dachshund Rescue. They did a super job! There were lots and lots of adorable doxies everywhere with lots of fun activities such as wiener races, costume contests, kissing contests and wiener bobbing for wieners!!! The Doxie Crafts gang missed most of it but heard lots of excited comments at our vendor table. We did have the best spot to see every one's dachshund!

One funny spot, a bigger non-dachshund entered the room and all the doxies had a bit of an issue with his appearance! There were at least 10 dachshunds all barking at the poor dachshund supporter.

We did have a chance to take George to the toy dive. He really did not want to leave and wanted to come back. Here is a video clip:

The first race was the smallest dachshund, which George won second place. Now, that does not mean much since only 2 dachshunds actually ran the length of the race track. Here is a video clip of one of the races:

The winner of the costume contest was Santa Scene, below. Here is also a picture of one of the entries, Oscar Mayer (pictures thanks to Oscar's mommy, Carloyn L.).

Please share any pictures if you were there! We missed lots. Thank you! doixe@doxiecrafts.com

Meet Brianna: Funnny & Original Dachshund Artist

We would like to introduce Brianna (Bry-anna) from central Kansas, USA. Not only is Brianna an amazing artist, she is a dachshund owner! She is a self proclaimed Weenie Dog Enthusiast; she has accosted dachshunds in public for sweet hugs!

Brianna's Artwork
Brianna creations range anywhere from elaborate puppets and oil paintings to sculpey, jewelry and paper craft. Currently, we have her fun dachshund magnets on our website (short hair, long hair and wire hair).

The silly dog magnets are hand drawn by Brianna while her dachshund Chris P. Critter sits in her lap!!

She uses a series of artist quality markers and pens to create her images. From there she takes her art work to a professional printer where they make beautiful color-rich and high quality copies. Back at her home, she turns the artwork into magnets by cutting out the circles and using a hand-press to snap the artwork into a 1.25 inch button. She uses very sturdy adhesive to secure the magnet on the back. The magnets are water proof and very strong.

Brianna's Dachshund
Now to Chris P. Critter. He is a 16-year-old wiener dog that loves to have tummy rubs. One funny fact from Brianna is that when Chris P. sneezes he hits his face on the floor! No worries; he does not get hurt when sneezing!
